I literally can’t even believe we’re in the month of Thanksgiving already! I have such a love-hate relationship with the month of November. Living in Wisconsin, winter is brutal. And November is the turning point where it really starts to feel like winter. But I also love November because Thanksgiving, obviously, and the beginning of the Christmas season! My life this November is so very different from last November. Last year at this time, this blog was a baby. It was merely two months old, had a poor design, zero focus, and was a hobby. Now the blog is growing into a business. Unlike last year, I’m married and beginning the process of house shopping. It’s crazy how much one year can change things. I’m excited for this month and everything that is to come!
Let’s start with a recap of my October Goals:
-Create some Christmas products to add to the Etsy shop. This is the only one of my goals I didn’t complete this month. I’m definitely disappointed in myself for not getting this done. I only created two new products for the Etsy shop this month. I’m definitely planning to do better in November!
-Create new opt-in options for my email list. YES! I’m super proud of this one! I have content upgrades on this wedding planning post and this meal planning post, and the combination of those has helped my grow my email list by 50% this month! I’m definitely planning to create even more, as well as figure out a way to market them better. -Return to meal planning. Did it! I’ve totally fallen off the meal planning wagon lately. But I wrote this post recently about getting back on track. I’ve also started using at an app called Pepper Plate. I can upload all of our recipes that we like and just drag and drop to create a meal plan and shopping list for the week. Super easy! I like having all of our recipes in one spot instead of dispersed across cookbooks, binders, Pinterest, etc. -Create a financial plan. I’m going to call this one a win! We didn’t sit down and necessarily make a strict spending plan, but I’ve started tracking out expenses on Mint, and we went to a first-time home buyers seminar and figured out where exactly we’ll need to be to buy a house next spring!
Overall, I’m happy with how I did on my October goals! I definitely aimed low with only setting four goals for myself. I could have set more for myself, but I probably would have failed on more as well. I got 3/4 of my goals finished, and some other things that I didn’t plan to do! I also have some awesome ideas for the future that I’m really excited about, including a wedding-planning e-book!
-Create 5 new products for the Etsy shop. Since I did a poor job of adding new products in the month of October, I want to make up for it this month.
-Start jotting down ideas for the wedding-planning e-book and create a basic outline.
-Write a new mission statement and tagline for my blog. Though I don’t have a clear niche for my blog, I do have a specific group of people I’m trying to reach. I also feel that my tagline of “Discovering Everyday Life and Style” no longer fits my blog, as I’ve stopped doing fashion posts. I’m hoping these two changes can help create a new focus for myself and my blog.
-Create a budget for Christmas and begin Christmas shopping.
-Decorate for Christmas! We don’t typically decorate until after Thanksgiving, but I’ll definitely have everything up before the end of the month!
-Meet my food and fitness goals each week, with the exception of Thanksgiving week.
