Whether it’s the weather, work, or something else, I definitely tend to go through phases where I’m not feeling super motivated. It messes with my excitement for blogging and just about everything else, and I’m less likely to meet my goals or stay organized. Has anyone else Gone through something like this? Here are a few strategies that you can use to pick yourself up when you’re feeling down!
If I’m feeling unmotivated or unable to get work done, it usually has something to do with being overwhelmed, having too much on my plate, or not being organized enough to keep up with it all. I rely so heavily on things like my planner, to-do lists, etc, and falling behind on that organization is sure to put me into a funk. I’ve been narrowing down my to-do lists even more, writing a few specific, manageable tasks I want to accomplish for each part of the day.
A few other ways to get organized to beat a funk like this would be to clean out your inbox (it’s so draining to open your email and see all those emails you haven’t done anything with), get rid of some clutter filling your workspace, or narrow down your responsibilities and focus on only the things you absolutely have to do.
Exercise is one of those things that I never want to do, but always feel better after I do and am glad I bit the bullet and hopped on that treadmill. When I’m feeling especially unmotivated, it’s actually one of the last things I want to do. But working out helps me feel more energized, it makes me feel better about myself, and it gets my adrenaline going and makes me want to accomplish even more once I’m done. Literally, something as simple as getting out of the house and going for a walk is sure to help lift you out of your funk!
I know I can’t be the only one who’s confidence goes way up when I’m wearing an outfit I look great it and my hair and makeup are done (or at least presentable). When I’m wearing PJ’s, obviously I’m not going to want to do anything but lay on the couch and binge-watch Netflix. But showering, getting dressed, and getting ready for the day is sure to make me feel like more of a grown-up and more likely to feel motivated!
It’s also a great tip if you’re just not feeling great about yourself. As women, we all have those days where our self-esteem just isn’t where it should be and we’re kind of down on ourselves, especially our appearance. But I bet you’ll feel better if you head to the closet and pick out the outfit you feel best in!
Eat Well, Drink Water
I can absolutely tell the difference in the way I feel when I’m eating well and drinking plenty of water. I’ve been making a genuine effort to eat more real food, cook more well-rounded dinners, and avoid some of the foods I know take a toll on my body. I’ve also been choosing healthier snacks so I’m eating apples and string cheese at work instead of chips. I can definitely tell the difference!
Drinking more water is something we should all be striving for all the time. I keep a cup at my desk and try to get up and fill it as soon as it’s empty.
