It’s been awhile since I shared anything from our honeymoon in Ireland! It’s hard to believe it was already two months ago! It was an amazing trip, a 10-day road trip around the country. In case you missed them, I’ve already shared our experience traveling in Dublin and Kilkenny. After leaving Kilkenny, our next stop was Cork. We didn’t stay long in the Cork but spent a few hours exploring the area around Blarney castle. Today I’m going to share with you our experience traveling Blarney!
Blarney Castle is one of the sights Dave and I were most excited to see and it was even more impressive than we thought it would be! The castle was very cool to walk through. It is basically a large ruin. The skinny winding staircases definitely give it a historic castle feel.
One of the coolest things about the castle was the views from up above! From the windows of the castle, you can see the entire Blarney grounds. The pictures hardly do it justice. If you ever get the chance to stand in the castle and look out on the grounds yourself, I recommend you take it.
The Blarney area was so much larger than I thought it would be. The gardens, flowers, trees, rivers, etc could keep you busy all afternoon. They certainly did for us!
In addition to the famous Blarney Castle, the grounds are also home to the Blarney House. The house wasn’t open when we were there, so we weren’t able to explore the inside.
Have you seen the Blarney Castle and Grounds? What was your favorite part?
