As you may have noticed, things look a bit differently around here! Over the holiday weekend, I re-branded my blog and corresponding social media channels from Very Erin to Refined Revelry. It’s a change that has been a long time coming, and that I’m very excited to have finally completed!
Let me take a few steps backward before diving into the new name. I started this blog in September 2014. At the time I didn’t have a clear focus, I just planned to write about whatever came to mind, and it was really more of a personal diary those first several months. At the time it hadn’t occurred to me that I would be monetizing and turning my blog into a business one day, nor did I really realize that was a possibility. Therefore, having a fun name that was very personal to me made sense.
My blog has significantly changed directed in the last (almost) three years. Somewhere around the six to nine-month mark of blogging, I started writing content that was actually beneficial to other people. By the time I hit one year, I had started monetizing my blog, mostly through sponsored content. That is also around the time I opened my Etsy shop, though that too has changed significantly since then.
At some point over the past year, I began to feel that I had outgrown my blog name, Very Erin. I also wanted something that wasn’t directly associated with my name for career purposes (something I wish I had considered in the beginning). After literally months of jotting down blog name ideas, I found one that fit. Refined Revelry offers the contrast of practical and fun that I hope to offer with this site.
So what’s changing? The name and URL of the website, Etsy shop, and social media pages.
What’s staying the same? Just about everything else! You can still expect to see a solid combination of practical tips and inspiration to use in your own life.
I hope you all are as excited about the change as I am, and I hope you’ll stick around to see what comes next for the blog and business!
