I’m going to be honest and tell you that photography is NOT my strong suit. So when it comes to finding photos to use for my blog, I’m all about free stock photos!
Strong photography is SO important to building a blog. But if you’re like me and haven’t mastered photography (or simply don’t have the time or care to take that many images), then free stock photos can be a great alternative.
Just a few things to keep in mind though:
- For FREE stock photo sites, there are probably a lot of people using them, meaning you’ll have the same images as a lot of other bloggers; and
- Be VERY careful to ensure that these photos are actually free and legal to use! Using a photo on your blog that you don’t have permission to use is a BIG no-no and could get you into some serious legal trouble. So when you use free photos, make sure to check the website to figure out what you are and are not allowed to do that with that photo.
With that being said, here are some free stock photo sites that I use to find photos for my blog!
MY FAVORITE SOURCES FOR FREE STOCK PHOTOS
Ivory Mix – This is one of my favorite places to get free stock photos! They have a membership site that you can pay for, but their free library has over 500 images. Plus they send out the occasional email with more free photos!
KaboomPics – This is a site I found a little more recently than the others listed. I love this site because I feel like a lot of the photos fit really well with my blog aesthetic!
Canva – Many people don’t think of Canva as a place to find stock photos, but they have a huge photo library! There are some stock photos that are free for everyone to use, and a LOT more that are free for anyone who has already invested in Canva for Work.
Styled Stock Society – This website is actually a stock photo membership that you pay for, but they offer a package of FREE photos as well! I love these because they’re really feminine, which is sometimes hard to find from other stock photo sites.
Styled Stock – Another site that offers great FREE feminine stock photos!
Pixabay – This is always one of the first places I check for stock photos. They have photos of every category and it’s super easy to search the site!
Pexels – This site, like Pixabay, is one of my go-to sites. While they don’t have as many photos, I find the quality to be better.
Unsplash – 10 beautiful new photos are added every 10 days. There are lots of nature and outdoor photos, and you can get them sent right to your email!
StockSnap.io – This is a relatively new site for me, but super easy to use with some great photos. The homepage is simple and you just use the search bar to find what you’re looking for.
PicJumbo – Another easy-to-use site that doesn’t require attribution. They have tons to choose from, and I’ve been loving the holiday pictures available lately!
BEFORE YOU GO
This post definitely isn’t comprehensive and with some research, you can find a LOT more free stock photos online, but this is a great starting point and will provide you with LOTS of free photos to use for your blog!
